Calibration and estimation of redundant signals

چکیده
This paper presents formulation and validation of an adaptive "lter for real-time calibration of redundant signals consisting of sensor data and/or analytically derived measurements. The measurement noise covariance matrix is adjusted as a function of the a posteriori probabilities of failure of the individual signals. An estimate of the measured variable is obtained as a weighted average of the calibrated signals. The weighting matrix is recursively updated in real time instead of being "xed a priori. The calibration and estimation "lter has been tested by injecting faults into the data set collected from an operating power plant. The "lter software is presently hosted in a Pentium platform and is portable to other commercial platforms. The "lter can be used to enhance the Instrumentation & Control System Software in tactical and transport aircraft, and nuclear and fossil power plants. ( 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. A Novel System-Level Calibration Method for Gimballed Platform IMU Using Optimal Estimation
An accurate calibration of inertial measurement unit errors is increasingly important as the inertial navigation system requirements become more stringent. Developing calibration methods that use as less as possible of IMU signals has 6-DOF gimballed IMU in space-stabilized mode is presented. It is considered as held stationary in the test location incorporating 15 di...
متن کاملSignal Calibration, Estimation for Real-Time Monitoring and Controlz
Performance, reliability, and safety of complex dynamical processes such as aircraft and power plants depend upon validity and accuracy of sensor signals that measure plant conditions for information display, health monitoring, and control [1]. Redundant sensors are often installed to generate spatially averaged time-dependent estimates of critical variables so that reliable monitoring and cont...
متن کاملRedundant Sensor Calibration and Estimation for Monitoring and Control of Nuclear Power Plants
Performance, reliability and safety of nuclear power plants depend upon validity and accuracy of sensor signals that measure plant conditions for information display, health monitoring and control [1]. Validity of measurements is important because a sensor failure can have serious consequences. Thus, it is essential to regularly ensure correct operation of sensors, in particular for those havin...
متن کاملWindowing Effects of Short Time Fourier Transform on Wideband Array Signal Processing Using Maximum Likelihood Estimation
During the last two decades, Maximum Likelihood estimation (ML) has been used to determine Direction Of Arrival (DOA) and signals propagated by the sources, using narrowband array signals. The algorithm fails in the case of wideband signals. As an attempt by the present study to overcome the problem, the array outputs are transformed into narrowband frequency bins, using short time Fourier tran...
متن کاملReal Time Calibration of Strap-down Three-Axis-Magnetometer for Attitude Estimation
Three-axis-magnetometers (TAMs) are widely utilized as a key component of attitude determination subsystems and as such are considered the corner stone of navigation for low Earth orbiting (LEO) space systems. Precise geomagnetic-based navigation demands accurate calibration of the magnetometers. In this regard, a complete online calibration process of TAM is developed in the current research t...
